Cardinal Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • Cognac 34 oz.
  • Dry red wine 7 oz.
  • Apple juice 1 34 oz.
  • Apple 34 oz.
  • Blackcurrant jam 1 12 oz.
  • Cinnamon sticks 0.35 oz.
  • Star anise 0.06 oz.
  • 
Cloves 0.03 oz.
  • Cinnamon sticks 0.35 oz.
  • Orange zest 1  

Directions

  1. Place a chopped apple wedge and 8 bar spoons of blackcurrant jam into a milk pitcher
  2. Add two stripes of orange zest and a star anise, a cinnamon stick and a clove
  3. Pour in 1.75 oz of apple juice, 7 oz of dry red wine and 0.75 oz of cognac
  4. Stir while heating, but do not bring to the boil
  5. Pour into a teapot
  6. Serve on a base with a candle to prevent the cocktail from cooling
