Soup Pihelshtayner (Pichelsteiner)

Pihelshtayner or stew of Bismarck is a thick soup prepared with three different kinds of meat. It is very famous in Germany soup. Pihelshtayner is particularly fond of German Chancellor Bismarck when he was resting in the Bavarian resort of Bad Kissingen. Thick and hearty Pihelshtayner included in the golden collection of 100 most famous recipes from around the world.   • beef (250 gram) 12 lb.
  • pork (250 gram) 12 lb.
  • chicken (250 gram) 12 lb.
  • onion, finely chopped 2 pcs.
  • potatoes, peeled and chopped 5 pcs.
  • carrot, peeled and sliced 3 pcs.
  • celery root, chopped 1 pcs.
  • leek, chopped 1 pcs.
  • sweet paprika, to taste 1 tbsp.
  • parsley, chopped 12 bunch
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • broth or water


  1. Bring water to boil. Cut three kind of meat and potatoes into cubes. Put meat, chopped onion, potatoes into a saucepan. Add sliced carrot, chopped celery, leek. Season with salt, black pepper, sweet paprika. Pour water or broth to cover all in the saucepan. Simmer on the low heat about 1 hour. Serve hot garnished with parsley. Enjoy your meal!!!
