French onion soup
French onion soup is a type of soup usually based on broth and onions and often served with croutons or white bread and cheese on the top. French onion soup is usually served as a starter. It is very popular since ancient times due to availability and ease of cultivation of onions. There is a legend in France that the onion soup was first prepared by the French king Louis XV. Late one night, the king wanted to eat, and could not find in his hunting lodge anything but onions, a small amount of oil and champagne. He mixed the point products together, cooked them, and so got the first French onion soup.
