Stuffed Red Cabbage Rolls

Stuffed cabbage rolls are a popular dish in many countries such as Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Moldova and some others. There are a lot of cabbage rolls recipes and each family has own. 


  • rice 12 cup
  • cabbage 1 head
  • carrot 2 pcs.
  • onion 1 pcs.
  • garlic 2 cloves
  • tomato (or tomato paste 2 tbsp.) 2 pcs.
  • forcemeat (450 gram) 1 lb.
  • salt and black pepper, to taste

Step 1
Thoroughly rinse rice under cool water before cooking. Bring the water to a boil and then add rice. Boil rice until partially cooked.

Peel off the outer leaves from the cabbage head. Discard any leaves that look wilted, worn or discolored. Thoroughly rinse the entire head of cabbage. Accurately divide into leaves. Boil the leaves for 1-2 minutes in salted water until soft and then remove them. *****Or you can boil the entire head of cabbage about 5-10 minutes. Let it cool and then divide into leaves.

Step 3
Mix in the blender carrot, onion, garlic, and tomatoes. Mix this mixture with boiled rice and forcemeat. Season with salt and spices. Place this mixture in the middle of cabbage leaves and roll them. Place this roll into the saucepan. Add water to cover all rolls. Boil on the low heat covered with the lid about 40-60 minutes.
