Sausages and Mash with Onion Gravy

Sausages and mash with onion gravy for dinner from traditional British and Irish cuisine


  • sausages 4 pcs.
  • olive oil 1 tbsp.
  • potatoes 4 pcs.
  • butter 14 cup
  • milk 12 cup
  • onion 1 pcs.
  • thyme 12 tbsp.
  • beef broth or chicken broth 1 cup
  • frozen sweet peas 1 cup


  1. Put sausages in a pan of boiling water. Boil for about 5-7 minutes and then remove and pat dry. Fry sausages with olive oil in a pan over medium heat for 20-25 minutes. Cooked sausages remove from the pan.
  2. Wash potatoes and peel. Put potatoes in a pot of boiling water cook for 15 minutes, until tender. Mash potatoes with butter and milk.
  3. Sauté onions in butter. Cook over medium heat until onions browned and caramelized. Add fresh thyme. Optionally add wine and stir for a couple of minutes. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Add sausages into onion gravy until heated through.
  4. Boil peas according to package directions.
  5. Serve mashed potatoes with sausages, onion gravy, and peas. Enjoy your meal!!!
